Thousands of migrants are streaming across the border from Greece to Macedonia on the western Balkans migratory route, which encompasses Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, Hungary and beyond. Many are fleeing conflict and persecution and are suffering great hardship on the long journey north. The Red Cross in Macedonia has teams working around the clock to supply food, water, hygiene kits, infant supplies, blankets, medicine and first aid to the most vulnerable. It is helping 2000 to 3000 people per day at this border crossing and similar numbers at the northern border with Serbia.
