An estimated 7.5 million people have been affected by the floods in Pakistan. The worst hit area is the southern Province of Sindh. Since the floods began in August the Pakistan Red Crescent with support from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies have reached more than 120,000 people with food assistance and other relief items. Eleven mobile medical teams have been running clinics in the districts of Mirpurkhas, Benazirabad, Hyderabad and Badin. So far they have provided over 17,000 consultations largely relating mainly to skin diseases and respiratory infections. Lack of drinking water is a major problem for thousands of displaced families who are camped out along road sides on high ground. Red Crescent emergency water and sanitation units are working around the clock to provide clean water.
