Almost a week after an earthquake of magnitude 6.8 hit Morocco, the needs remain huge. More than 3,000 people have died and many thousands were injured, according to Morocco’s government. Aid is reaching more remote areas, but access past blocked roads remains challenging.
The Moroccan Red Crescent teams were on the ground immediately and have been since, coordinating closely with the local authorities to assess the situation and provide help to affected people. Over 230 Moroccan Red Crescent volunteers have been responding in Taroudant, Marrakech, Chichawa and Al Haouz provinces. Red Crescent volunteers are also supporting a campaign for blood donation.
